Epic Loupes is in the process of developing the Epic Scholar Award. This is one of the many ways that we give back to one of our most valued types of clients: Students!
Epic has been in business since 2008. We’ve heard that most businesses fail in the first five years. We thought that our first five years were so fun and exciting that we decided to keep growing! We plan on being around forever. After all, we’re going to need to be around for the long haul to help all of our doctors, dentists, surgeons and students get the best deal in medical magnification!
Epic was started by dental professionals that were frustrated with being overcharged by suppliers. If you’ve ever felt the same way, we understand your pain! We offer the highest quality product at the lowest possible price. Don’t you wish all your suppliers did the same?
Well, we can’t speak for them, but we know that at trade shows they aren’t too happy! We offer some of the same designer eyeware, with the best magnification, the Epic LED light and a fantastic warranty. Not to mention that our manufacturing times are much faster than those big guys. What’s not to love; unless you’re the competition! Oh, yeah… we almost forgot. Some of the other loupes companies have offered to buy us out but we decided medical professionals need to have as many high-quality, low-cost suppliers in their corner as possible.
Your loupes are made in Boise Idaho, USA. We use components from the finest suppliers all over the world! Some of our suppliers are from the USA, Spain, China, and Italy. We sell loupes to providers all over the globe, why shouldn’t we support the economies of many nations? Even though your Epic Loupes are assembled in Idaho, no potatoes are used in the assembly of your loupes.
Well, yes we do. Here’s one of our favorites- it’s kind of long, but well worth it:
A great Sea Captain named Marco Polo loved sailing the 7 seas. One day while sailing on the seas, his 1st make came running up to him and said “Marco Polo, Marco Polo we have and enemy off the left-hand side.” Marco Polo said, “Quick, run and grab my red shirt”. The first mate ran and grabbed Marco Polo’s red shirt. Marco Polo put on the red shirt and fought an amazing battle in which he defeated the enemy ship.
Next week Marco Polo was sitting on the front of his ship and his first mate ran upto him and said “Marco Polo, Marco Polo three enemy ships off the right-hand side”. Marco Polo looked at his first mate and said “Quick, run and grab my red shirt”. The first mate ran and grabbed Marco Polo’s red shirt. Marco Polo put it on and fought another amazing battle in which he defeated all three enemy ships. At the end of the battle the first mate asked Marco Polo, “why is it that at every battle you always put on your red shirt” Marco Polo answered, “If I’m wounded during the battle I don’t want the men to see me bleed. If the men see me bleeding they may loose hope, stop fighting and we’ll lose the battle” The first mate said “so really you wear the red shirt to cover up the bleeding”. Marco Polo said “that is right”.
Next week Marco Polo was sitting on the front of his ship. First mate came running up to him and said “Marco Polo, Marco Polo. 300 enemy ships straight ahead, an entire fleet!” Marco Polo looked very concerned and said “quick, run and grab my brown pants!”
Didn’t get it? Not a problem, here’s a hint:
If the red shirt covered up the bleeding, what would the brown pants cover up?
Loupes only focus at one specific distance (sounds like a bummer, but it’s not that bad, after all that’s what helps you maintain correct ergonomics) This distance is the working distance.
Although loupes only focus on one spot, there is depth that comes before and after this focal spot that provides you with a useful amount of clear, crisp magnification. This is depth of field. If get too close or too far from the focal point focus will diminish.
This is the distance that you can see (left-to-right) while looking through your loupes. As magnification increases, field of view will decrease. EPIC LOUPES boasts some of the best fields in the industry!
